Ms. Nusrat Jahan

Ms. Nusrat Jahan is a judicial officer, currently working as an Assistant Director (Training-2), Senior Assistant Judge at Judicial Administration Training Institute. She joined Bangladesh Judicial Service through 11th BJS in 2018.  Previously, she was a lecturer of Department of Law and Human Rights at the University of Asia Pacific. She completed her LLB (Hons) and LLM from Department of Law, University of Dhaka. She is an US Exchange visitor alumnus. She participated in the prestigious International Visitor Leadership Programme (IVLP) on ‘Investigating and Prosecuting Human Rights Violation-I’ from June 10-June 28, 2024, organized by United States Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, held at United States of America.

 

She did her internship from USAID’s Justice for All Programme in the year 2015. She has participated in the prestigious 9th National Henry Dunant Memorial Moot Court Competition and in the Regional Rounds (held in India) and Global Rounds (held in Oxford) of Monroe. E. Price Media Law Moot Court Competition respectively. She won the best oralist trophy in the National Rounds of Henry Dunant Memorial Moot Court Competition, 2013, was a member of octo-finalist (top 16) team in the global rounds of Monroe E. Price Media Law Moot Court Competition, 2016 held at University of Oxford. 

She has leadership experiences as well. She was the Vice-president of Dhaka University Moot Court Society (DUMCS). She was the co-founder and general secretary of a student based pro-bono organization titled “Student Legal Aid Forum” established for the purpose of educating law students and mass people about government legal aid activities. She was awarded with the Duke of Edinburgh International Award (Silver and Bronze Standard) for her extraordinary involvement in leadership and community service activities during her student life by Duke of Edinburgh International Award Programme Bangladesh. She has a co-authored publication in her record on Mediation in District Legal Aid Offices in Bangladesh. She has received Shamaila Rahman Memorial Scholarship and Scholarship on Merit from University of Dhaka for her academic excellence.

She has completed 42nd Special Foundation Training Course organized by Judicial Administration Training Institute (JATI) from 24th October, 2021 to 22nd December 2021 by obtaining 6th Position.  She has completed Two Weeks Long Training on “Improving Learning and Teaching Skill (ILTS)” organized by University of Asia Pacific held in 2017.

She has participated in various national and international workshops, seminars and conferences as well. Previously she worked as the Assistant Judge at the District and Sessions Judge Court, Narsingdi for about four about four years.  She can be reached at nusratlawdu@gmail.com.
