Dr. Md. Alamgir
Dr. Md. Alamgir is a sedentary judge of Bangladesh Judicial Service. Currently he is working as a Deputy Director at the Judicial Administration Training Institute. Dr. Md. Alamgir holds a LL.B (Honors) and LL.M from the university of Rajshahi and awarded MPhil Degree entitled “A Legal Study on Domestic Child Labour in Dhaka City” from the Islamic University Kushtia. He was also awarded PhD degree entitled “Access to Justice of the Garment Workers in Bangladesh: Bridging the Gap between Domestic and Global Practices” from the Institute of Bangladesh Studies (IBS), University of Rajshahi. After the completion of his graduation, he had worked with the Dhaka based research Institutions like Empowerment through Law of the Common People (ELCOP) and Bangladesh Shishu Adhikar Forum. During his association with these institutions, he grew an interest about human rights and socio-economic issues that pervade Bangladeshi society. He also crafted the arts of legal research and methodology through MPhil, PhD research and involvement with human rights projects.
He had joined the Bangladesh judiciary in 2008 and had been serving as a Judge in different jurisdictions. He has also 11 years teaching experience in different public and private universities in Bangladesh. He has several publications in reputed national journals. He is an author of a book entitled “Garment Workers’ Access to Justice: Global Standards and Bangladesh Practices.” He was the guest speaker of Janata Bank Training Institute, Rajshahi. He participated in the capacity building training program designed for Foreign Judges of Bangladesh held at the National Judicial Academy, Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh and State Judicial Academy, Gujarat, India. In addition to his professional and academic credentials, Dr. Alamgir has participated in several local trainings, conferences and seminars which add extra magnitudes to his experience and expertise.
